The City centre where you can visit the Pretoria Zoo, Snake Park and Aquarium. There are lots of museums including an art museum. You can visit the Union Buildings, Church Square, the Voortrekker Monument , Melrose House, Kruger Museum and much more. Kollonade shopping centre with cinemas, ice-skating, ten pin bowling and an entertainment centre and lots of restaurants to choose from and a massive indoor flea market just across the road. Menlyn shopping centre with it's 300 shops, cinemas plus the Barnyard Theatre where you can enjoy a picnic before the show. Hartebeespoort dam is a mere 45 mins drive away. There is a cable car which takes you to the top of the Magalies Mountain range with its breathtaking views. Visit the art and craft market with traditional African curios at very reasonable prices and pay a visit to the Elephant Sanctuary where you can get close to these (mostly) gentle Giants. Other leisure places, like the Rietvlei Dam Game Reserve, Sun City, Pilanesberg Game Reserve, several golf courses etc., are all within short travelling distance. Roodeplaat Dam offers fishing or a drive in their nature reserve, or sundowners and a meal on the floating restaurant. You could even take a day and visit Cullinan Diamond Mine and its quaint little town or the Lion Park near Muldersdrift or the Cradle of Humankind in the same area. |
